The snow is falling much harder than words fall onto my computer screen ever highlighting my inability to focus on the work I need to. Perfect time for an Eclectrix post. Nonetheless, at least back in the real world music is thriving and getting up to it's usual tricks, and I really can not wait until 'Eclectrix Radio' starts back up in 2 weeks.

Truth, the dubstep consortium described as "New Zealand's greatest dubstep export", provide a fluid perspective on genre, melding southern hemisphere attitude with technical proficiency.

That wonderful transitional period between Summer and Autumn that brings immense change throughout our planet is really kicking into full swing. Fresh-faced students aimlessly shuffle along the streets, immense electronic albums are released and I moved house.

During one particular period of homeless and computerless couch-crashing, I was forced to listen to songs on Youtube from the internet connection on my mobile phone...

Most notably:

One of my favourite songs at the moment that I am unable to get out of my head. Joe and Will Ask?'s remix of 'Heartbeats' by Grum has "Shazam!!!" written all over it. They have just put their new monthly mixtape up.

Everyone's favourite mouse (no, not Mickey) has a brand spanking new release out on October 5th. Titled 'For Lack of a Better Name' the album offers a hodge podge of eclectic electronic music (right up our alley). I'm a huge Deadmau5 fan, and am extremely impressed by how far reaching and diverse his newer stuff is becoming.

Metronomy

This weekend just gone I spent at Offset Festival in Hainault forest in Essex; a small but hugely enjoyable celebration of all the best in art-rock, hardcore and post-punk bands around. However, one band that really surprised me were Metronomy, who were moved from the Loud and Quiet tent at 10:30 to the final slot on the main stage (following headliner's The Slits), in fear of the L & Q tent overfilling. They're one of those bands of which you don't realise how many songs you know until you see them live. They've been remixed by the likes of Sinden and Breakbot, and have themselves remixed people like Dead Disco, The Klaxons and Late of the Pier. Bellow is one of my favourite Metronomy songs...

This first dubstep outfit, Truth, hail from the southern hemisphere, New Zealand if we're being specific. They were initially introduced to me by a friend of mine, Shredexx, a DJ that Eclectrix Radio will be featuring on a regular basis. Stay tuned to hear mixes and much more from him.

Next up is autoKratz with 'Stay The Same' due to be released on the 21st of September, on their debut album 'Animal', which should be out now. The video shares similarities with Royksopp's 'Remind Me', although the Norwegians really went for overkill with theirs.

We also have the 'Flavours' remix by Jacob Plant a fantastic up and coming DJ/Producer from Kent, who will also be involved with Eclectrix Radio in the near future. If you are going to the Notting Hill Carnival on Monday 31st August, make sure you check him out on the CR2 Stage at 3:30 pm. It should be Rad!

Rainbow Arabia

Here at Eclectrix we like to give just about everything a chance, all in the name of eclecticism, on the proviso that it is electronic music. Rainbow Arabia are the eccentric husband and wife team (Danny & Tiffany Preston) who fuse African and Middle Eastern tribal sounds with psychedelic spectral activity. They use a plethora of world musical instruments like Lebanese synthesizers and drum machines; think M.I.A. and Siouxsie crossed with your Afghan next-door neighbors' wedding party. Having released EPs on Manimal Vinyl Records based in LA and the UK label Merok, they just released a new LP in July '09 titled "Kabukimono".

The Illuminoids

As a massive fan of all music 'Cold War Classics' related, I'm generally quite skeptical when I hear about something as epic as say... 'Get It On' by T. Rex being remixed with more contemporary electronic music. But for once, this track by California duo The Illuminoids, really does work! They have combined Marc Bolan's voice with 'Le Disko', a Shiny Toy Guns song from their 2006 album 'We Are Pilots'.

These boys have a knack for blending classics with modern beats and have even remixed tracks by The Clash, The Rolling Stones and Bowie.

Definitely my personal favourite:
